How absurd men are! They never use the liberties they have, they demand those they do not have.
They have freedom of thought, they demand freedom of speech.

From Garden to City

As a follow-up to "The Polis of God" I need to add one more thing. It must be noted that the overarching sweep of history is from Garden to City. This is how the Bible opens and closes. In the beginning "God planted a garden in Eden" where He put the man (Gen. 2:8); and in the end "the holy city . . . having the glory of God" comes down, built upon the foundation of "the twelve apostles of the Lamb" (Rev. 21:10-14). This is what happens when we disciple and baptize as Christ commanded. This is what the gates of hell shall not prevail against. This is what God does through us by His grace. This is the church, the ekklesia, the polis of God.
